ISCMNS

Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow.

By Alan Smith and Professor Xing Zhong Li

The International Society for Condensed Matter Nuclear Science was at least partly the brainchild of the International Atomic Energy Agency! Professor Thomas Dolan (pictured below) who was head of physics at their Vienna office suggested at ICCF-9 in 2002 that to promote cold fusion research a society was needed, one with a good name, a proper journal, and awards for outstanding service to the field.

In 2003, after ICCF10, the late Dr Bill Collis with help from Professors Akito Takahashi, John Dash and Xing Zhong Li drafted a constitution for this new group, and also created legal and charitable bodies to hold any assets. With the help of many, including Professor Akito Takahashi and the Mayor of Asti the Preparata Palladium and Toyoda gold medals were minted and gifted to the society by their respective families. The first medals were awarded in 2004 to Drs. Iwamura, De Ninno, and Mizuno. A journal, the JCMNS, editor in chief Jean-Paul Biberian, was launched in 2003 and continues under his care.

Much of this was due to Bill’s diplomatic charm, energy and gentle insistence that it happened. Without Bill at the helm we will need a team to run the society and meet the challenges that LENR, our society, and our planet face. At a meeting to be held at ICCF-25 Lynn Bowen, Jean-Paul Biberian and Alan Smith will propose a new team that reflects the international nature of our 240 members, and honours the giants whose shoulders we stand upon. Most importantly it is a structure that will enable the ISCMNS to grow, prosper, and to show the world what science can achieve when determined people work hard and come together with one voice to make great things happen. We should never forget the motto of the society ‘Ardet Nec Consumitur !’ which means ‘It Burns And Is Not Consumed. Membership is open and currently free of charge, though that may change in 2024. Help is make it happen!
