July 2026 brought one of the strongest mainstream research signals in recent memory, with a new Nature Communications paper reporting enhanced deuterium fusion in palladium and titanium hydrides at sub-keV energies. Commercial activity also continued around Aureon Energy, ENG8, Astral Systems, New Hydrogen Fusion Energy, and Brilliant Light Power.

1.) Aureon Energy / SAFIRE shares new updates

Aureon Energy continued to attract community interest in July, including a behind-the-scenes video circulated through LENR Forum via Vimeo.

2.) Astral Systems wins at The SPARKies 2026

Astral Systems was listed as winner of “Engineering Product / Business of the Year” and “Most Exciting Investment Deal” at The SPARKies 2026. Astral remains important to the wider LCF / solid-state fusion discussion because of its lattice-confinement-fusion-related isotope production work.

3.) ENG8 moves the EnergiCell toward industrial heat

ENG8 reported several July developments around the EnergiCell, including a proposed Portuguese ceramics application, transport and distribution concepts, and coverage from New Fire Energy on ENG8’s move toward industrial pilots.

4.) New Hydrogen Fusion Energy continues public outreach

New Hydrogen Fusion Energy updated its public-facing material in July. The company describes a hydrogen nuclear fusion process operating below 1,000°C and says helium-3 production has been measured by nuclear reaction analysis.

5.) Brilliant Light Power posts SunCell commercial-upgrade test

Brilliant Light Power posted a July 1 SunCell update describing a commercial-upgrade test and reporting 85 kW optical power under partial injector operation. As always, independent validation remains the key question.

Papers:

1.) Enhanced nuclear fusion in the sub-keV energy regime

Micah E. Karahadian, Matthew Colborne, Arun Persaud, Thomas Schenkel, and Jeremy N. Munday published a new Nature Communications paper reporting enhanced D–D fusion yields in palladium and titanium hydrides below 2 keV.

This is not a practical power claim, but it is highly relevant to LENR / CMNS because it shows that solid materials can strongly influence low-energy nuclear reaction yields.

2.) Mass Production and Application of 17O-Enriched Water Using LENR

A July 2 preprint reports 17O-enriched water production using claimed LENR processes, with analytical checks using mass spectrometry, NMR, and cavity ring-down spectroscopy. This is a major claim and should be followed carefully for independent replication.

3.) Pre-Thermal Mechanical Energy Channel in CMNS

Joseph George posted a preprint and ICCF-27-related abstract proposing a sub-picosecond pressure-pulse mechanism as a possible pre-thermal energy channel in condensed matter nuclear reactions.

4.) Intermediate domain between atomic and nuclear scales

Mario Menichella / FutureOn Srl circulated a paper discussing the possible physical importance of the 1–50 pm length-scale domain between ordinary atomic and nuclear regimes.

5.) JCMNS Volume 41

JCMNS Volume 41 continued to provide new CMNS papers and discussion, including work on Storms’ NAE model, Japan’s CMNS status, LEC experiments, Pd-Ni-Zr nanopowders, coherent resonance, neutron detection, plasma-assisted LENR, and causal-network models.

1.) Storms NAE gap-size discussion continued

LENR Forum discussion continued around Edmund Storms’ nuclear active environment model, including questions about nanogap size, material preparation, and what experimental evidence is needed to define the NAE. Forum posts also noted that Aureon expects to present at ICCF-27 and that Dr. David Nagel has joined Aureon’s advisory board.

3.) LCF remains an important bridge topic

NASA’s lattice confinement fusion work continues to be one of the clearest bridges between conventional low-energy beam-target fusion, solid-state effects, isotope production, and the wider CMNS conversation.

2.) NuMat2026: The Nuclear Materials Conference

NuMat2026 will be held September 21–24, 2026, in Halifax, Canada. While not a LENR conference, the materials-science focus is relevant to researchers studying hydrogen-loaded metals, radiation effects, defects, and fusion materials.
